Hedgehog in the fog.

So, as occasionally mentioned I’m a big old fan of DrawQuest – an app which encourages you to draw – everyday if time allows – to a given daily theme (and has a lovely and vibrant community which joins in and chats merrily on twitter afterwards 🙂 )

((On a related subject I’m also a fan of Didlr app – a similar thing but with no daily theme but more options and available on more platforms. Both are lovely to sit and draw on but for completely different reasons…))

A couple of days ago the Drawquest theme was ‘What came out of the fog?’ and, to that, there could only be one answer really…

(drawn on iPad 2 using DrawQuest app, Dagi stylus and Nomad Brush).

(and with a smidge of Pixelmator magic sprinkled on… Wanted to play with Pixelmator v3 and a friend asked me how to use overlay filters so had a quick play through…)

You can see an animated version of the original picture being drawn here… Marvel at exactly how many times I faff around trying (and failing) to find the right colour… Good job the pics now shown in real time! That would be thirty mins of me scrolling through the DQ colour wheel umming and ahhing…

Anyhow this is, of course, a love scribble to the beautiful and brilliant ‘Hedgehog in the fog’ animation by Yuri Norstein.

Moodle lecture doodle…And a tree…

Inset day at college on Tues which meant I was ordered to go to two lectures that were of little use (and one which made me angry it was so ham fistedly delivered) and one I wanted to.

Ironically I doodled this in the one lecture I enjoyed. But I still listened and occasionally took notes.

(Brian drawn on iPad 2 using Brushes app/stylus sock).

Also: drew this last night while happily chatting to a friend on Skype. These two images may have almost single handedly saved my sanity. For this week if nothing else…

(tree drawn on MBP using Pixelmator 🙂 ).

Different shade of doodle…

Twas speaking with a friend who’s going for a job interview next week and chatting through possible lesson plans. Something sprung to mind and this came out of that twenty minutes later. I’ll come back to it at some point to finish it off (I’ve got an idea where it’s going) but thought I’d post it up as a progressy type thing.

New Marmitey…

Doodled this yesterday on my iPod touch which is still getting about as much as use as the iPad is… iPad’s getting there, and as lovely as it has been from day one, but Brushes is still by no means as simple a fit on the bigger screen as it feels on the smaller one. Witness this character which I only drew because the two I’ve been working on on the Pad haven’t been working out as smoothly as I want them to.

Loads of Pixelmator additions to the pic, well, 20% or so? A few colours, a few things fixed, couple of highlights etc as well as the gradient background fairly obviously… But loads of fun as ever to doodle on. I do have a larger image type thing in mind with the Marmitey’s I’ve come up with and a few extras but the likelihood of it ever coming to be is as low as any of my ideas coming to the sort of fruition I dream of…

Crazy dayzy…

Sigh, life is full. Sometimes fun though, can’t complain.

Anyhow did this for a client who I like loads:

and this for the fun of it. It was fun that had a downside. I drew the pic in my garden at the end of a hectic and busy day and found, the next morning, that one side of my face had swollen up around a bug bite I barely remember receiving. Beginning to go down now but it does still feel like someone’s stamping on my face.

Tyred…

Hohoho…

Doodled this as part of showing someone how Brushes app works. The first half was just me sketching as normal, the finish off just for the fun of completing the image… Then I finished off the picture in Pixelmator with a couple of filters while watching 24.

Zing! How’s that for multi-tasking…
